Divided
One of my most memorable political events was during the 2006 senate elections. I just remember watching T.V. and being completely taken back by how split our country really is. I mean, come on. Out of 100 seats the democrates control 49, the republicans control 49, and independent parties control 2. That is almost a perfect line down the middle. Its terrifying for me to actually see that our country is completely divided in half. It seems that we as a nation are at the cross roads. One choice is bringing people together and acting as one group of people, or splitting further and further apart.
What would you choose?

I wouldn't quite say that we are divided into republicans and democrats. Some of the basis the founding fathers set up were differences of opinions. Also, our government is set up on a system of checks and balances. It is good to have the two (or 3 including the independants) parties. If it was uneven, we would have a lopsided government. Each side cares about some of the same issues and some different ones- if there were a lack of democrats, the environment might suffer because there wouldn't be as many people to defend it, whereas, if there was a lack of republicans, then America might not be aggressive enough to protect itself and its citizens. It is all about checks and balances, not about being divided.
